Italian crude steel output down in January

According to report from Italian local producers' association Federacciai, crude steel produced from Italy dropped in January by 19.7% year-on-year to 1.8 million tons.

It was the lowest since 2009as the production for the whole year decreased to 16.03 million tons and picked up in 2010 to 18.83 million tons. However, for previous month, December 2012, the long products rose by 0.4% to 733,000 tons and but the flat output dropped by 7% to 900,000 tons.

Italian long steel production was down to 11.74 million tons, dropped by 8.9% in 2012. Flat production rose by 0.7% to 14.52 million tons.
